In early 2025, the France visa application process for Algerian residents is changing.

Currently, to apply for a visa to France, Algerian residents are required to utilize the visa processing services of VFS Global or TLScontact. Starting April 7th, 2025, VFS Global and TLScontact will be replaced by Capago International, a French visa processor.

Today, VFS Global has a visa center in Algiers and TLScontact has centers in both Oran and Annaba. These locations will end their services for French visa applications in April as Capago begins its local operations. This change only concerns visas for France, not the other governments that they work with.

Capago International will have visa application centers located in Algiers, Oran, Annaba, and Constantine.

What is Capago International?

Created in 2010, Capago International is a visa processing company that works directly with French consulates, acting as a liaison between the visa applicant and the consulate.

Capago performs several necessary services including appointment scheduling, biometric collection, application submission, tracking, and more.

While Capago deals with the majority of the administrative tasks associated with French visa applications, they do not have any power or influence over visa decisions. Only consulates/embassies have the authority to approve or deny a visa.

As a trusted partner of the French government, Capago has been appointed to serve Algerian residents.

How does this impact Algerian travelers to France?

Algerian residents will still begin the visa application process on the official France Visas platform. There, you will be redirected to the official Capago International website where you can book an appointment. At this appointment, you will submit your application in person at one of Capago's visa application centers in Algeria.

While the visa processor will be different (instead of VFS or TLS it will be Capago), the general process will remain the same.

  • Go to the official France Visas website and create an account if you don't already have one. There, you'll learn more about the application process and what the specific visa requirements are.
  • Select which type of visa you need depending on your needs, such as a tourist visa.
  • Collect and prepare the required documents. You'll receive a list of which documents are required earlier in the process. The requirements will remain the same, such as a valid passport and mandatory Schengen visa insurance.
  • Book and attend a visa application appointment at one of Capago's Algerian centers.
  • Submit your documents and biometrics for processing.
  • Track your application status through Capago. You'll receive a tracking number that you can use to follow your application's progress online.
  • Receive an answer and get your passport back.

It's also important to note that this change in visa application centers doesn't affect Campus France Algeria, for Algerian students looking to study abroad in France.

Appointed visa processors can change from time to time. You can expect Capago International to serve Algerian applicants for several years.
